Social Privacy Protector is an academic non-profit project made for research purposes only.
We do not share or sell any user information.
Our project is sponsored by Telekom Innovation Laboratories and the Department of Information Systems at Ben-Gurion University.
Because of the acute problem of privacy in Facebook we developed a set of 3 tools to better protect user privacy:
1. Insert unwanted friends into Restricted List – the application will present a recommended list of your friends. This list includes friends we
think should be restricted, however, user should decide who will be inserted to this list.
2. Expansion of privacy settings – the current privacy settings of Facebook include Public, Friends, and Custom. We developed 3 more settings which help you protect your privacy:
a. Kids – restricted permissions for young user accounts.
b. Celebrity – no privacy restrictions for user. Recommended for celebrities and advertising agents.
c. Recommended – recommended permissions for adult users.
3. Deletion of old unnecessary applications – because every application in Facebook gathers a lot of information about its users, our application can help maintain privacy by presenting to the users the amount of applications that have previously been installed to their Facebook account. If the user would like to delete old and unwanted applications, they can do so by clicking on the link.
